For the centennial of the birth of Carol Rama, at Artissima Fondazione Sardi per l’Arte presents Carol Rama_100 years of seduction, a special project on the work of this artist.
In a separate, inviting and specially designed space, a number of remarkable works – some never shown before – are presented. They are all from the collection of the poet Edoardo Sanguineti, recently acquired by the Torino-based foundation. The works on view at Artissima represent not only a surprise for visitors, but also an opportunity to narrate the intense friendship between Carol Rama and Edoardo Sanguineti, two of the most novel figures of 20th-century culture in Italy, who shared intellectual passions and episodes of life in a mutual exchange that began in the 1940s.
Fondazione Sardi per l’Arte and Artissima thus offer visitors to the fair a unique chance to discover new aspects of the personality of Carol Rama, through the gifts – paintings and objects – she made for her friend, bearing silent witness to her fervent creativity and an intense intellectual rapport.
The external walls of the space set aside for Carol Rama have been made by starting with an original photography by Pino Dell’Aquila, who in the 1990s, with great sensitivity, documented the rooms in which Carol Rama lived, and the materials with which she worked.
